Infinite Book Garden

This library is a gradation from urban to landscape, outside to inside, ground to sky. When the elements of a garden - earth, air, greenery, sky, are introduced to the interior experience of this architecture, the lines between architecture, community, landscape, and urban fabric are blurred. A new category of space is propounded as intermediate areas in this compact urban site. As the character of library changing nowaday, these fused intermediate areas provide multifarious experience to meet the needs of reading, searching, communicating, meandering, relaxing ...

The rhythmed division of space echoes the condensed fabric of urban buildings in Brooklyn, while the big cavities correlate the library with the public plaza garden and the roof garden exsiting at the site. In bigger scale, other urban scenery can serve as borrowed landscape through these cavities. The scattered porosities among the structure generate a circulation that crossing this gradation constantly, create a sense of infinity. Vertically, these intermediate spaces layer and intersect. Light, air, plants and other natural elements continuously encounter in different zones, reach towards the sky.

The branding design of this book garden contains the customized bookmark, event ticket, assembly toy, and the user ID featuring a QR code in shape of the building section.
